Uniform
We are very proud of our school uniform and expect all children to wear it when attending the school or participating in school-organised events where appropriate. There has been careful consideration about the uniform in terms of practicality and developmental stages as children progress through the school. The school takes great pride in the school uniform and believe it positively impacts the school by enabling the following;
-
provides children with a sense of belonging and community
-
identifies the children with the school
-
makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
-
provides a practical and smart solution
-
regarded as suitable wear for school and good value for money by most families
-
is designed with health and safety in mind
-
provides children with secondary school readiness
The Van Gogh branded items (as set out in the information to follow) must be purchased from our school uniform supplier Healthy Bean Ltd. Purchases can be made:
- in person at one of the “try and buy” fitting sessions (see details below)

Uniform “try and buy” Sessions
At the peak times of year, when new and existing families are purchasing their child's uniform ready for the new school year we will hold in-person fitting sessions. At these sessions you'll be able to try on, get help with and purchase the school's branded uniform as well as other general items. Families will be updated later in the school year in Spring / Summer 2026 regarding the next "Try and Buy" sessions.
Children are expected to change for PE into the school branded PE kit. Children in Year 6 and 5 can attend school in their PE kit on the days when they have PE. PE kits should not be supplemented with additional items of clothing i.e. own branded hoodies.
Health and Safety
To minimise risk of accidents, we do not allow children to wear jewellery in school unless;
-
ear-ring studs in pierced ears
-
small objects of religious significance, such as a crucifix on a chain or Sikh Kara
We do however ask the children to remove these objects during PE, games and swimming for health and safety reasons.
Medical identification bracelets may be worn by children who have significant medical problems eg. Diabetes or epilepsy.
Footwear
The school wants all children to grow into healthy adults. We believe that it is dangerous for children to wear shoes that have platform soles or high heels, so we do not allow children to wear such shoes in our school. Neither do we allow children to wear trainers to school; this is because we think that this footwear is appropriate for sport or for leisurewear, but is not in keeping with the smart appearance of a school uniform. We require all children to wear black shoes as stated in the uniform list.
Hairwear
We understand that children have a wide range of hair textures and hair style preferences suited to their hair type. We value and celebrate this by acknowledging that hair forms a part of a child’s identity. Bright artificial coloured hair is not permitted.
If a child chooses to wear hair bands, beads or a hijab, they must be black, green or grey.
